A space to connect, share, and reduce isolation among parents

Key points

Café Parents is a free AIEM service for immigrant parents in Montréal, particularly in the eastern part of the city.

These friendly group meetings offer a space to talk with other parents, reduce isolation, feel heard, and leave with ideas and support to better navigate parenting in the context of immigration.

A free on-site childcare service is available during the meetings.

A welcoming space for immigrant parents

Becoming a parent in a new country involves many changes. New rules, expectations, and ways of doing things can sometimes lead to stress, uncertainty, or isolation.

Café Parents was created to offer immigrant parents a simple, accessible, and welcoming place where they can take time for themselves, talk about parenting, and feel supported by other parents facing similar realities.

For many families, Café Parents is an important first step toward a more positive and confident family integration experience in Québec.

How Café Parents meetings work

Café Parents meetings are group gatherings based on a friendly and informal approach, focused on open discussion and peer exchange.

Discussions may include:

  • parenting in the context of immigration

  • children’s development and well-being

  • everyday family challenges

  • useful resources for parents and families

Topics can be suggested by the parents themselves, based on their needs and concerns.
