Summary
The Accueil aux immigrants de l’Est de Montréal (AIEM) offers free full-time French courses in Montréal, in partnership with the ministère de l’Immigration, de la Francisation et de l’Intégration (MIFI).
Courses are offered in groups of approximately 25 or 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Depending on the session, full-time courses may also be available in the evening or on weekends.
Québec French language program with AIEM
AIEM is a community organization mandated by the ministère de l’Immigration, de la Francisation et de l’Intégration (MIFI).
We support immigrants with their official registration through the government platform Apprendre le français – Québec.ca, to facilitate integration into Québec society in French.

Learning French in Québec
French is the official and common language of Québec. It is used in public institutions, workplaces, education, communications, commerce, and everyday life.
French courses in Montréal offered by AIEM help improve spoken and written French, increase autonomy in daily activities, support social and professional integration, and enable active participation in community life in French.
In this context, AIEM acts as a MIFI-mandated organization and, when relevant, as a proud advocate of the French language in Québec.
Full-time French courses – Montréal
Full-time French courses in Montréal are offered in groups of approximately 25 or 30 hours per week, mainly from Monday to Friday. Depending on the session, some groups may also be offered in the evening or on weekends.
Courses are available for beginner and intermediate levels and are delivered within the framework of the Québec French language program.
Who can take French courses?
Free French courses under the Québec French language program are intended for immigrants living in Montréal, including :
- permanent residents
- temporary workers
- international students
- protected persons
- asylum seekers.

How to register for French courses
Registration for French courses is done through the official Québec government platform.
You must first :
create a profile on Apprendre le français – Québec.ca
choose the desired format (part-time or full-time), and select AIEM as the learning organization.
MIFI will then contact you regarding next steps.
