Accueil aux immigrants de l’Est de Montréal (AIEM) is a community organization mandated by the ministère de l’Immigration, de la Francisation et de l’Intégration (MIFI).
We support immigrants, including international students, at different stages of their integration in Québec, depending on their situation and eligibility.

Who is this service for?
This service is for international students who are:
- holders of a study permit
- enrolled in a Québec educational institution
- in Québec for study purposes
International students are temporary residents. Some services are available from the start, others depending on how your status changes (work, permanent residence).

1. Settlement and essential steps
We can support you or guide you for:
- housing search
- opening a bank account
- Social Insurance Number (SIN)
- RAMQ and guidance toward private insurance
- Québec driver’s licence
- change of address
- proof of French knowledge
3. Work during or after your studies
We can inform and support you for:
- work permit for an internship or a student job
- post-graduation work permit
- open work permit for a spouse or partner (if eligible)

- accompanying child (CAQ + study permit)
- information about family benefits (when conditions are met)
