Practising spoken French to better integrate into Québec

Image

Summary

French conversation groups offered by the Accueil aux immigrants de l’Est de Montréal (AIEM) are free activities designed to help participants practise spoken French, better understand Québec culture, and build social connections in a friendly environment.

The Winter 2026 session begins the week of January 12, 2026. Participants may join one or several groups, offered in person or online.

AIEM provides free support to immigrants and their families in Montréal to foster integration in French within Québec society. In this context, AIEM acts as a proud advocate of the French language in Québec.

Why join a conversation group?

Conversation groups are an excellent way to practise French in real-life situations, without academic pressure.

Participation helps improve spoken French, expand vocabulary, build confidence when speaking, better understand Québec society and culture, and reduce social isolation by meeting new people.

Discussions take place with volunteer francophone mentors, in a respectful and encouraging atmosphere.
