Youth in Motion Toward Work (JMVE)
A structured program to help young people prepare in a concrete way for their professional future in Montréal

At a Glance
Youth on the Move to Employment (JMVE) is a free AIEM program for young people aged 16 to 30 who want to build professional skills, gain paid work experience in Quebec and prepare for their future. Through practical workshops, personalized support, mentoring and a paid workplace internship, participants build confidence and gain a better understanding of how the Quebec labour market works.
A reassuring program for families
Many immigrant families look for a serious, safe, and recognized framework to support their young adult during a key period: end of studies, first work experiences, searching for direction, or low confidence.
Youth in Motion Toward Work was designed to provide clear and reassuring supervision, a progressive structure, realistic and achievable goals, and a concrete experience of the world of work, while respecting each young person’s pace, abilities, and reality.
Who the program is for
The program is for youth aged 16 to 30 from immigrant backgrounds, for newcomers, and for youth from immigrant families.
An intermediate level of French is required to take part actively in workshops and the internship.
Eligibility is assessed by AIEM’s team based on the program’s criteria.
What the JMVE program includes
Youth in Motion Toward Work is a structured pathway to prepare for the world of work, spread over several weeks.
The program includes group workshops on Québec’s job market, personal and professional development activities, supervised support from AIEM’s team, and a real workplace internship, allowing the young person to discover a work environment, apply what they learn, and develop concrete, transferable skills.
The internship is paid, according to the program’s rules.
A clear, structured and supervised approach
The program's goal is to prepare youth to enter the job market, strengthen socio-professional autonomy, and support a return to studies when relevant.
Important: the program does not guarantee a permanent job. However, it offers practical tools, real experience, and professional supervision that supports long-term integration.
