This community childcare service in Montréal helps parents take part in AIEM services and activities or meet a short-term childcare need, while offering children a space that supports their well-being, overall development, and socialization.

A service designed for immigrant families

Arriving in Québec brings many changes for families. AIEM’s drop-in childcare offers parents a moment of relief and provides children with a reassuring environment, whether for a half-day, a full day, or an unexpected situation.
As a local community organization, AIEM helps immigrant families in east Montréal access free services that support social, school, and community integration. The drop-in childcare plays a concrete role in this support by making it easier for parents to access services.

Who the drop-in childcare is for

The drop-in childcare is for children ages 0 to 12. It is mainly intended for children whose parents use AIEM services or who live in the neighbourhood, as well as for families with occasional, short-term, or urgent childcare needs.

Spaces are offered based on family needs and availability.

Our goals for children

The drop-in childcare aims to ensure children’s well-being, health, and safety, support their overall development, and encourage socialization and positive interactions. It also helps build social skills and can support kindergarten readiness when the child’s age is appropriate.

These goals are achieved through learning activities, age-appropriate play, and guided exploration time.

A safe and stimulating environment

AIEM’s community drop-in childcare offers a welcoming and structured setting that is adapted to different age groups.
Activities and the environment support emotional development, social development, cognitive development, language development, and physical and motor development. Everything is set up so children feel secure and can grow at their own pace.
