Settlement and integration support after recognition of your status

Key information

Protected persons have a legally recognized status in Canada and can access AIEM’s free integration services.
AIEM supports you with settlement steps, access to public services, and your path toward long-term integration in Québec, particularly in East Montréal.

Structured support after recognition of your status

Obtaining protected person status is a major milestone. This recognition provides access to rights, public services, and a more stable integration pathway.

At the Accueil aux immigrants de l’Est de Montréal (AIEM), we offer human, structured, and free support, adapted to your situation and needs.

Our role is to help you turn this recognition into a safe and sustainable settlement by guiding you to the right services at the right time.

Who are protected persons?

Protected persons are individuals whose need for protection has been recognized by Canadian authorities. They hold a confirmed legal status, distinct from that of asylum seekers, and can begin a structured settlement and integration process in Québec.

An essential distinction to understand

  • access to a structured integration pathway with settlement and integration services.

Asylum seekers :

  • Are awaiting a decision
